cannot see ANY existing target files -> copy everything

I keep running into this problem: BestSync copies everything again from scratch although all the files and folders are already present in the target directory.

see image http://tinypic.com/r/qzjjub/5

This happens for some of the Tasks I have, but not always. I am really puzzled.

Here it's for Thunderbird emails but I have the same problem with a regular directory.

Here are the settings http://tinypic.com/r/2h6ayqs/5

Any help would be really great. I am at a loss.

BestSync 2013
English Version Ver8.0.6.5(64Bit)
Basic License

Hello,
From the screen shot of the task preview. There are not files in the target folder, so the files will be copied to the target folder (again)?
Please check whether there is any other software that is deleting files from the target folder.

Thanks for your answer.

All the files are *already* in the target directory (as I can verify with an file explorer like Windows Explorer -- I can upload a screen shot as proof next week, if necessary). This is exactly the problem: although the target files already exist, Best Sync seems to believe they do not, and copies everything again.

Note: the target directory is on an external hard drive.

Can anybody help?

This is a similar problem that I was seeing on Bestsync 2013 and it gave no indication as to the cause. I have now installed BestSync 2014 and if I preview the task, it now shows winsock errors. Once these are encountered, Bestsync assumes that the files are not on the FTP site and so says that they will all have to be uploaded again.

I've just installed 2014 but the problem is still there.

Note: the target directory is on a USB drive, not an ftp-site.

BestSync uses OS function to list files in the local folder including USB external drive.
If BestSync can not list files in the external USB drive, please confirm if the USB cable is stable, or if the driver of the external drive acts correctly.

I cannot see any problem with the USB drive, USB cable, or driver. Everything looks normal with e.g. Windows Explorer.

here is a picture: http://tinypic.com/r/4fwfh4/5
All the files are already in the Target Folder (Z:, see Windows Explorer). I've just manually copied abook-1.mab to the Z:drive (highligthed). But Bestsync still does not see it (Preview panel). Note: this also happens when Thunderbird is not running.

BestSync has only problems with 2 sync jobs (folders), not the other ones with the same target (Z: USB drive) but different sources such as this Google folder:

I appreciate your concern. this is a major problem as it's very unpractical to copy everything again everytime.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

The problem is really odd.
Have you confirmed whether there is any privilege problem, or have you tried to "Run as administrator" menu of the shell to start BestSync?

how do I do this?

yes. does not help. Note: there are 4 jobs that run OK, and 2 that don't.

interesting: I've now ran the backup for one of the 2 problem sources. it has copied everything. after that if I run the preview again it shows correctly that no files should be copied. I've closed BS, reopened it, it is still ok. I've ejected the drive and reconnected it, reopened BS, and it's still ok. I wonder if it will be ok tomorrow??

meanwhile the other problem job is still wrong (BS wants to copy everything)

Note: I've done this "copying everything" quite often and it does not solve the problem.

maybe there is sth wrong in the settings of these 2 jobs?

once thing I have done this morning was to check the whole drive for errors (sth that Windows often proposes to do). maybe this helped.

let me try again and check tomorrow.

well no luck.

first preview: BS says that there are no target files, which is probably wrong as I ran thunderbird in the meantime and had new emails hence new files.
then I deleted on email message and previewed BS, which did not see any target files nor folders and wanted to copy everything again.

duh.
